There will be an emphasis on basic skills for orthotic modification including posting, grinding and troubleshooting. You will leave with the knowledge necessary to put what you have learned into practice Monday morning.
Day 1:
Saturday morning:
Anatomical review: functional anatomy and biomechanics
Review hard deformities/ torsions and common anatomical abnormalities of the lower extremity with lab
Review the normal walking and running gait cycles
Breakdown the gait cycles into their component parts
Explore the biomechanics of the lower kinetic chain during walking and running
Saturday afternoon:
Running analysis lecture and lab
Predict problems that can arise from altered lower extremity biomechanics in walking and running
Apply visual analysis skills with lab and iPhones
Utilize advanced technology (IMU’s) to assist with analysis
Recognize some common gait abnormalities seen in gait analysis
